ClearCorrect is a set of clear, removable plastic aligners that gently move your teeth into better position over time. It is usually a good fit for people with mild to moderate crowding, gaps, or teeth that have shifted, and who prefer something less noticeable than braces.
At Penn Family Dental in DuBois, your first visit starts with a look at your teeth and bite to see if ClearCorrect makes sense for you. If it does, we take digital scans or impressions and use them to map out how your teeth should move. You then receive a series of aligners, each worn for a couple of weeks before switching to the next one. Most people wear them about 22 hours a day and take them out to eat and brush. The full process often runs from several months to around a year or more, depending on how much movement your teeth need.
The aligners are clear and fit close to your teeth, so most people around you will not notice them. That matters if you work in a job where you talk to people all day or just feel self conscious about how braces look.
Because the trays come out, you can eat what you normally eat and brush and floss the way you always have. There are no brackets or wires to catch food, which many patients find easier to keep clean than traditional braces.
Aftercare with ClearCorrect is simple but it does take some discipline. You wear each tray as directed, rinse it and keep it clean, and come in for check visits so we can track your progress. When treatment is done, you will usually need to wear a retainer so your teeth do not drift back. Some people feel mild pressure or soreness for a day or two after switching to a new tray, which usually settles on its own.
If your front teeth are crowded or overlapping and you have trouble keeping them clean, ClearCorrect can slowly guide them into a straighter line. This can make brushing and flossing easier once things are in better position.
Gaps and spaces between teeth are another common reason people ask about aligners. ClearCorrect can close many of these spaces gradually, though your dentist will check whether the gap is from spacing alone or from a missing tooth, since those are handled differently.
Some people come in because their teeth shifted over the years, sometimes after braces they had as a kid. ClearCorrect can often help with that kind of mild relapse. For bites that are badly out of line, severe crowding, or teeth that are rotated in difficult ways, braces or another option may be a better fit. Your dentist will tell you honestly if aligners are not the right tool for your case.
